Registrar of Political Parties Gazettes ODM Leadership Changes, Confirms Dr Oburu Oginga as Party Leader

The Registrar of Political Parties has formally gazetted changes to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership, confirming a significant reorganisation at the top of.

In a Gazette Notice issued under the Political Parties Act (Cap. 7D), the Registrar confirmed Dr Oburu Odinga as the new ODM Party Leader, replacing the late Raila Amolo Odinga.

The changes were published as Gazette Notice No. 1157 and mark a major transition within the party’s leadership structure.

The notice indicates that Raila Odinga, who has served as ODM’s Party Leader since the party’s formation, has been replaced by Dr Oburu Oginga.

The leadership transition comes as ODM undertakes internal restructuring in line with its strategic and organisational objectives.

New Deputy Party Leaders and National Office Bearers

Alongside the change at the top, the Registrar confirmed a reshuffle across key ODM positions.

Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir was named Deputy Party Leader in charge of Strategy, replacing Wycliffe Oparanya.

Paul Simba Arati took over as Deputy Party Leader for Operations from Ali Hassan Joho, while Godfrey Osotsi was appointed Deputy Party Leader for Policy.

The Gazette Notice further confirmed Gladys Wanga as the new National Chairperson, succeeding John Mbadi.

Paul Otiende Amollo was named Deputy Chairperson in charge of Strategy and Political Affairs, replacing Paul Simba Arati as John Namoit was appointed Deputy Chairperson for Operation.

Changes were also effected in the positions of National Organising Secretary, Secretary for Political Affairs, Deputy Organising Secretary and other senior party roles.

Further changes were effected across ODM’s secretariat and organising wing as Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim was replaced as National Organising Secretary by Ahmed Abdullahi, while James Opiyo Wandayi exited his role as Secretary for Political Affairs, succeeded by Rozaah Buyu.

The gazettement formally sets in motion a new phase in ODM’s leadership as the party prepares for its next political engagements.
