Transfer Tensions: Mbeumo Frustrated by Man Utd’s Prolonged Talks

Bryan Mbeumo wants to wear red. But as Manchester United hesitate at the negotiation table, the Brentford forward is growing restless.

The 25-year-old, who played a vital role for Brentford last season with 20 goals in 42 appearances, has made it clear he’s ready for a new challenge. He wants that challenge to be at Old Trafford. So far, though, the move has not materialized.

United have seen two offers rejected, with Brentford holding firm on a reported £63 million price tag. Despite ongoing discussions, no agreement has been reached – and time is ticking.

“He’s frustrated with how long it’s taking,” Cameroon assistant coach Ashu Cyprian Besong said in an interview with Telecom Asia. “But he’s a professional. He understands these things happen.”

Besong, who maintains regular contact with Mbeumo, confirmed the forward’s desire to leave is not rooted in discontent but ambition. “He’s very calm, and grateful to Brentford. But he’s told them clearly – he wants to go to United,” he added.

Ruben Amorim, United’s new manager, is said to be keen on working with Mbeumo. His ability to play across the frontline -on the wings or through the middle — fits the mould of the dynamic, fast-paced attack Amorim is building for the new season.

But Brentford are in no rush. The West London club are in a strong position, financially and tactically. Losing Mbeumo would be a blow, but only on their terms. They’re confident in their valuation – and in the growing interest from other clubs. Tottenham and Newcastle, both of whom showed interest earlier this summer, are still monitoring the situation.

For now, Mbeumo waits. But his patience is wearing thin.

He’s not pushing for a move publicly, nor burning bridges behind closed doors. But the longer the delay continues, the more open he may become to alternatives — something Brentford wouldn’t oppose, especially if it sparks a bidding war.

For United, the delay could prove costly. With other transfer priorities on their list -and a deadline looming — their inability to close this deal may leave them short when the season begins.
