President William Ruto has issued a fiery warning to those he claims are plotting to remove him from office before the next general election.

Speaking at Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi on Wednesday, the President said he was aware of behind-the-scenes schemes and would not hesitate to confront them head-on.

“I dare you!” he said. “Enough is enough. I have kept quiet for too long.”

The Head of State had just finished inspecting a government-backed housing project for police officers when he made the unexpected remarks. His tone was stern. His message, clear: any attempt to force him out of power through unconstitutional means would be met with strong resistance.

“I want to be very clear,” Ruto told the gathered officers and reporters. “Nobody will remove me from this office through force or illegal plans. Let them try, and they’ll see.”

He did not name any individuals or groups behind the alleged plot. However, his comments suggest growing tensions within the political landscape as the 2027 general election inches closer.

Ruto, who came to power in 2022, is facing pressure from critics over the rising cost of living and youth unemployment. His rivals have accused him of backtracking on campaign promises and consolidating power.

Still, the President insisted his government would not be intimidated.

“This is a democracy,” he said. “If anyone wants to lead this country, let them wait for the ballot in 2027. Let them convince Kenyans.”

There has been no public evidence of a planned coup. Political analysts, however, say the remarks reflect the mounting political noise and mistrust in elite circles.

“These kinds of statements are meant to send a message to both allies and opponents that the President is watching,” said political commentator Nancy Mbugua. “It’s also a way to shore up support within his base by framing himself as under siege.”

Opposition leaders have yet to respond publicly, though insiders close to the Azimio coalition have dismissed the claims as “a distraction from poor governance.”
