Tears as Liverpool Star Luis Diaz is Reunited With Father After Kidnapping Ordeal

Liverpool and Colombia winger Luis Diaz has been reunited with his father, Luis Manuel Diaz, for the first time since the latter’s kidnapping.

The Colombian football federation reported the joyful reunion on Tuesday, sharing that Luis Manuel Diaz, 58, was released 12 days after being taken hostage on October 28 in Barrancas, a rural municipality in the northern province of La Guajira where he resides.

However, Diaz stayed with Liverpool until Sunday’s Premier League triumph over Brentford and then headed back to Colombia ahead of Thursday’s World Cup qualifier against Brazil.

Colombian FA shared pictures of the father and son’s emotional reunion on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption “we are family.

Despite the scaring kidnapping ordeal, Diaz’s father has said he would remain in Colombia.

“My aspirations are to continue in my town because I have my entire family in my town,” he said during a press conference on Friday.
