James was initially shown a yellow card for the rough challenge but after a VAR check, the referee changed the decision to a red card.

This left the Lionesses with a numerical disadvantage for the remainder of the match.

After the game, Alozie confirmed that she is perfectly fine and confirmed that she does not hold any grudges against the 21 year old.

Speaking to reporters she said,””It was good for us. James is a really good player. And nullifying her was really big for us.”

I was a little bit surprised by her reaction to the tackle. I don’t think it was really needed. I’m fine, my butt is fine from her stepping on it! I was kind of confused initially. I didn’t understand what was going on at first. There’s no hard feelings, it’s just a game,” Alozie added.

Despite their star being sent off, England eliminated the Super Falcons on penalties to earn a place in the Women’s World Cup 2023 quarter-finals.
