Beyoncé and Solange’s mum, Tina Knowles, has filed for a divorce from her husband, Richard Lawson. According to court documents, Tina filed on July 26, after eight years of marriage. She filed irreconcilable differences as the reason for their break up.
Tina Knowles has requested for the court to terminate spousal support to either party and that her surname be reverted back to Knowles which she initially adopted when she married Matthew Knowles in 1980.
Tina and Matthew Knowles welcomed their two daughters before divorcing in 2011. The news of their divorce comes three months after Tina and Richard celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. The couple got married on April 12, 2015, in a white-themed ceremony in California.

According to Tina Knowles, her granddaughter, Blue Ivy pushed her to remarry during a family outing with Richard. Blue Ivy is the firstborn daughter of Beyoncé and Jay Z.
We went out on a boat with Beyoncé and Jay Z and when we came out one night dressed up to go to dinner, Blue said,’ oh y’all look beautiful, when are y’all getting married?’

Tina and Richard had been friends for decades before their relationship turned romantic. The pair were first introduced by Richard’s late sister, Gwen.
Richard has shared before that when they met, Tina was pregnant with Beyoncé and that what he felt for her then could only be lived in his fantasy.
He also revealed that it took him 32 years for his love for Tina to come full circle but goes ahead to say that it was worth the wait.
Beyonce and Jay Z have had their fair share of marriage trouble but have not opted for a divorce. Instead, both have used their music as an instrument to channel their frustrations as they work through their marriage. The couple shares two children.
