British-born influencer Eli Mwenda has announced that he will be taking a social media break after he was assaulted by an unnamed individual while coming from an event over the weekend.
Taking o his Instagram page yesterday, Eli wrote that he would not be able to keep creating content for his followers for some time as his face was ‘sliced open’ by his attacker. He said that the attack happened on Sunday night.

Eli wrote that although he did not fight back his attacker, the assault had caused great damage to his face and he had to undergo surgery to prevent him from having a permanent scar on his face. He assured his followers that his social media break would be short and that he would soon get back to creating content.

The fashion influencer and podcaster said that the social media break was not only because of the incident but also said that he needed to take care of his mental well-being and focus on his recovery. Although he has not clarified whether the incident will affect the shooting of the podcast that he co-hosts with Oscar Koome, his followers and fellow influencers have wished him a quick recovery while condemning his attack. The influencer said that he had forgiven his attacker but he had also followed all the official channels to ensure that no one else would be attacked like he did in the future.
Eli Mwenda was last month caught in the crosshairs with Kenyans and the subject of criticism after he promoted the controversial cab service Bolt when Kenyans were complaining that the company was not responsive to their complaints on safety. The promotional post was later deleted.
