Bebe Rexha: Fan Charged For Hitting Singer at NYC Concert

A 27-year-old man has been charged with assaulting Bebe Rexha at a concert in New York City after he threw his phone on the stage at the singer during her performance.

The man, identified as Nicolas Malvagna, threw the device at the singer towards the end of the show, striking Bebe Rexha in the face and interrupting the concert as the singer had to be rushed to hospital.

According to the singer-songwriter’s images of her injury and police reports, the incident left her wounded and bruised on her left eye. She was carried out of the performance area and sent to the hospital, where she underwent surgery to treat the wound left over her left eye.

Nicolas Malvagna was arrested and arraigned at Manhattan Criminal Court. He is charged with two counts of assault, one count of aggravated harassment, one count of attempting an assault, and one count of harassment. He is expected back in court on July 31.

Malvagna admitted to hurling the phone at the 33-year-old singer, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said. He said that he did it for his amusement saying, “I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone because it would be funny.”

Fans have condemned the incident saying that the singer has been through enough struggles in the music industry concerning her age and weight and the concert was meant to be a homecoming.

On Monday, Bebe Rexha posted on her social media assuring fans that she was okay in a post captioned, ‘I’m good’ where the stitches on her left eye were visible. Back in 2018, Bebe Rexha receive a Grammy nomination in the new artist category. She recently launched her new album, “Bebe,” which featured David Guetta.

The singer is expected to headline five more shows in the USA in Atlanta, Houston, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. It is still unknown how and if the New York incident will affect the tour’s remaining dates.
