Kelvin Etemesi scored a brace as Nairobi City Stars pedalled from behind to beat AFC Leopards 2-1 in an FKF-PL battle at the Nyayo Stadium.

The match was played behind closed doors after Leopards was slapped with a fan ban over Bukhungu chaos last month.
Leopards were the first to score through Victor Omune in the 17th minute before Etemesi pulled one for City Stars in the 66th minute.

Simba wa Nairobi levelled the scores four minutes later through Etemesi, who sealed victory for City Stars with a beautiful strike on 89 minutes from James Mazembe’s assist.

Leopards on the other hand remain seventh on the log with 48 points.

With the victory thanks to ‘Super Inji10’ goals, City Stars secured safety in the top-flight league as they sit 15th on the league standings with 33 points, 10 points above the relegation-threatened Wazito FC with three matches to go.
Astonishingly, Etemesi is the Nairobi City Star top scorer side this season from Kangemi All-stars, where he was scaling success and scored a hat trick a number of times.

Just as any player he has played in different leagues in Kenya at the grassroots level and high school; Masosa Secondary in Nyamira County was poached from Nairobi as a young lad angry for success with Coach Osiemo mentioning him as the next Kadenge for Kenya.
With no doubt of success in his mind, he scored six goals in five games – a pair of goals each in games against Mathare United, Posta Rangers and Vihiga Bullets within a three-week span.
Nairobi City Stars forward Kelvin Etemesi believes that he will add numbers to his goal tally from the remaining Kenyan Premier League matches in the 2022-2023 seasons.

Etemesi currently leads the Simba wa Nairobi scoreboard with Nine goals and fellow forward Samuel Kapen comes second.
Both strikers joined City Stars last year from the lower tiers. Etemesi was signed by Kangemi All Stars while Kapen was acquired from National Super League side Kibera Black Stars.
“I first thank God for getting me this far in just my first season in the Kenyan topflight league,” he told club media “It is every attacker’s dream to score for their club. I feel good being among the top scorers in the league and I feel I can do better and score more goals before the season comes to an end,” he said
According to the club’s stats, Etemesi has so far featured in 22 of 30 City Stars league games this season and has clocked a total of 1,404 minutes.
He scored six goals in five games – a pair of goals each in games against Mathare United, Posta Rangers and Vihiga Bullets within a three-week span and patiently waiting for his first hat trick for the club.
He was also on target in their 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks.

City Stars are set to play Nzoia Sugar, FC Talanta and Gor Mahia in the remaining matches of the season.
