Fulham lost 2-1 against Manchester United in the FA Cup fixture on March 19; Aleksandar Mitrovic, Willian, and Fulham’s head coach were sent off as drama ensued.

According to BBC, an independent commission, in a ruling on Tuesday evening, found Aleksandar Mitrovic guilty of improper conduct handing the Serbian striker a three-match ban for the sending off, three for violent conduct and an additional two for “improper, abusive, insulting and threatening” language. Mitrovic, Fulham’s top scorer, gave his team the lead versus United early in the second half of the FA Cup tie.

In addition to the ban, Aleksandar Mitrovic has been handed a £75,000 fine (Ksh. 12,468,448.12 ). In an apology to fans and Fulham Mitrovic said,

“On a personal level, I regret the actions that led to me being sent off.

“I allowed my frustration to get the better of me, and how I reacted was wrong.”

Fulham has also received a £40,000 (Ksh. 6,650,238.15 ) fine for failing to control their players.

Mitrovic’s suspension has already been served for one game, so he will be eligible for Fulham’s final three Premier League games of the season, the first of which is on May 13 against Southampton.

Fulham manager Marco Silva has also been handed a two-match ban.

“I regret what happened, and I have spoken to Chris Kavanagh to apologize. He knows that I respect him and the job he has to do,” said Silva.

“Unfortunately, we did not see eye-to-eye on the day, but I recognize that he is one of the top referees in this country and I know that when our paths cross again, there will be mutual respect between us.

“I am sorry that I was not on the pitch to try to lead the team to what could have been an historic FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, but I am thankful for all the support I have received from Fulham fans over the last few days.”
