Chinese Research Vessel Completes Deep-Sea Mission near Oceania

Chinese Scientific Research Vessel-Tansuo-2 has completed its trial deployment of a deep-sea in-Situ Scientific Experiment Station.

The Tansuo-2 returned to the Coastal city of Sanya in South China’s Hainan Province on Tuesday, carrying the deep-sea manned submersible “Deep Sea Warrior.”

The completion of its manned deep diving research mission in waters surrounding Oceania is a significant signal that there is hope in the research methodologies.

During the voyage that began last October, the vessel’s deep-sea manned submersible vehicle named striver, completed several explorations, both in the diamond trench and the chromatic trench, which is more than 10,000 meters deep.

It was the first time in history that humans entered the Diamond Tina trench to carry out observation and sampling.

The exploration also revealed the deepest known whale fall at more than 5,600 meters. There were 10 international organizations that participated in the mission, which took 157 days and covered more than 22,000 nautical miles.
