Ruto: Kenya to Open Embassy in Hungary for Smooth Developmental Workflow

President William Ruto has purely directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora to look into the matter of opening of Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.

Speaking on Tuesday, March 7 when he hosted the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, László Kövér, at State House in Nairobi, Ruto said that the embassy will help to formulate the relations between the two countries.

The Kenyan President thanked the Hungarian government for the Ksh 6.2 billion support that will be set aside for the construction of the Dedan Kimathi Comprehensive Cancer Management (DKCCM) in Nyeri county.

The donated funds will also see the construction of the Kabonyo Regional Service and Training Centre of Excellence and the rehabilitation of the Ahero Irrigation Scheme in Kisumu County respectively.

The Head of State also said that Kenya has taken a robust position at international meetings on the critical matter because the phenomenon poses an existential threat to humanity.

“The world is at a crossroads, do we continue with fossil fuels and burn the globe or do we go the clean energy route and save the world,” President Ruto said.

In a statement, the Hungarian Speaker said the two countries’ parliaments have done a lot in strengthening the relations between Hungary and Kenya.

On a high note, Kenya plays a significant role in exports to Hungary including cut flowers, fruits, vegetables, tobacco, and fish, and also more opportunities in meat, clothing, dairy, and pharmaceutical products.
