Kiharu Constituency MP Ndindi Nyoro said National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has allocated Ksh 60 million for day scholars’ lunch.
Launching the Kiharu Masomo Bora program at Mugoiri Day Mixed School, Nyoro clarified that the parents will only do payments of Ksh 1,000 per term.
The implementation of the ‘Masomo Bora’ (Good Education) in the constituency is a positive development that could potentially benefit students and improve the quality of education in the area.
MP Nyoro stated that Kiharu NG-CDF has partnered with a non-governmental organization known as Food for Education, to greatly implement the outlined program by providing part of the financial support.
The program is aimed at providing different forms of support to students in Kiharu, including the provision of school uniforms, textbooks, and other learning materials, as well as supporting initiatives that enhance the learning environment such as the construction of new classrooms, and renovation of existing ones.
“The program aims to renovate the infrastructure of all our 60-day secondary schools within the Kiharu constituency. The money will also provide an improved menu for lunches for the more than 14,000 students admitted to the day schools. The lunches will be provided from Monday to Saturday and there will also be porridge during the 10 am break time,” Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro said.

The program also includes efforts to improve the quality of teaching through the training and professional development of teachers. Such initiatives are critical in enhancing the overall quality of education and have the potential to increase access and retention of learners, particularly in areas where the socio-economic conditions of parents may impede access to quality education.
The implementation of the ‘Masomo Bora’ is a positive step towards improving access to quality education in Kiharu Constituency. However, it is important to ensure that the program is implemented effectively and that the resources and support provided translate into improved learning outcomes for students.
