You can have My Heart but not My Phone Password

Phone

These days, if you are in a relationship, one of the unspoken rules of the land is ‘don’t touch my phone and don’t ask for my password either.

You would think that being together with someone romantically gives you access. Honestly, though, you could have access to ATM cards, their car, and spare house keys (if you haven’t already moved in together). You know, the nitty gritty. All these things may be possible, depending on what kind of person you are dating. However, their phone is where they draw the line.

People in relationships want the full package, with VIP treatment but when it is concerning matters of the phone, that’s when the conversation ends. It is fascinating though to see how such a small electronic gadget can disorient everything. Phones are like mini terrors or that nightmare you have every night that doesn’t go away.

One moment, you are both cuddling in each other’s arms and the next, a shoe is flying across the room because your girlfriend stumbled upon something she was not supposed to see on your phone. Worse, she cries herself to sleep because there are two ‘mamas’ saved in your contact list, with freaking love emojis. These things end in two ways; murder or break up.

Here is the deal though. Maybe sharing phone passwords is not such a brilliant idea. Sure, it comes in handy in cases of emergencies. And of course, you will expect that James will give you access because he has nothing to hide, right? However, that is not always the case. Passwords are there for a reason. Therefore, we need to respect that.

There is no need to send yourself to an early grave just because you could not keep your hands, (or eyes) to yourself. Let your phone remains solely yours and vice versa. All this unnecessary drama and fuss over the need to have phone access will cause you nothing but pain.

Love each other, and give each other the world, but keep your phones out of it.
