On Sunday December 11, 2022, at the Cape Town Stadium, Shujaa defeated Canada 21-10 to win the 13th-place match and three points from the Cape Town 7s.
Before Tony Omondi converted Daniel Taabu’s try, which gave Shujaa a 7-5 lead, Anton Ngongo had given Canada the early advantage with an unconverted try.
Then Edmund Anya ran over the tryline, and Omondi added the conversion to give Shujaa a 14-5 lead at the break.

Brock Webster scored Canada’s second try. Then Denis Abukuse with the break and offload to Johnstone Olindi who scored under the posts, Omondi converting for the full-time.
Shujaa proceeded to the 13th place finals after defeating East African rivals Uganda 19-5 at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday 11 December 2022.
Shujaa had lost all group matches in Group c before proceeding to the 9th – 16th place finals where they were eliminated by Ireland after the sudden death to a score of 19-14.
