Ruaka; a couple has been confirmed dead and another rescued following a six-storey building collapse at Ruaka in Kiambu County on Thursday, November 17, morning hours.
The building located near Old Ruaka Road collapsed over a neighbouring residential home in the early hours of the morning.

Several families are feared to be trapped inside the building and a rescue mission is underway in search for the trapped people in the debris.
Kiambu County Governor, Kimani Wa Matangi, arrived at the area of the incident together with the Kiambu county fire brigade, Red Cross and police officers who began searching the building wreckage for any signs of human life buried underneath the rubble.

The Ruaka incident just comes as the second building to collapse this week, whereby a seven-storey building collapsed in Kasarani, Nairobi County leaving 3 people dead.

In a statement, the National Construction Authority-NCA said that it was commencing a probe to Establish the cause of the collapse as it also pursues the developers.
The building collapse revealed the construction was experiencing column failure based on visual observation. All persons were cleared from the construction site.
Unfortunately, some residents reportedly defied the order, and the structure collapsed on them hours later.
