Kenya Simbas players boycotted training over unpaid allowances during their stay in Dubai for the 2023 rugby World Cup qualifier.

Senior players of Kenya’s rugby 15-aside national team led the boycott forcing head coach Paul Odera, to postpone their last training ahead of their final qualifier game against Hong Kong.

“Yes, it’s true. The players led by our seniors boycotted today’s training after the players seemed demoralized. The technical bench tried all the best to prevent a player’s boycott to no avail.” an anonymous source revealed according to People Daily.

Additionally, the source revealed how the squad felt abandoned by Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) and the government, which further contributed to the low morale in the camp.

Efforts to get comments from KRU officials fell on deaf ears with Kenya’s rugby governing body yet to make any official statement on the matter.
