“I was born and raised in a humble setting in Takaungu, Kilifi North. My parents were very poor they struggled to provide for me and my 27 siblings,” she revealed while tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.

It forced the Speaker and chair of the committee Moses Wetangula to calm down Jumwa.“Compose yourself, we all walk through the same journey,” said Wetangula.

Jumwa revealed that she is worth Ksh 100 million. She thanked the President for recognizing her efforts in serving the Kilifi people and said she is prepared to execute her mandate if she sails through to the CS position.

Grade D-
Jumwa, further defended her D minus KCSE grade, saying she remains a role model to many girls, adding that her success in life despite having failed in the secondary school examinations is a true testimony that anyone can make it.

She said it was not a walk in the park after taking herself back to school after dropping out of Form Two.

“I had to take myself to class after dropping in Form 2 and I think that’s not a qualification to judge Aisha Jumwa on sitting in the cabinet. The person who nominated me to this position did his due diligence and saw that I am fit if approved by parliament,” she further revealed.

Earlier, Pokot South Member of Parliament David Pkosing questioned Jumwa’s academic qualification wondering how Jumwa attained a degree yet scored a D Minus in her KCSE examination.

She also disclosed that her houses in Malindi and Nairobi are worth Ksh 85 million shillings and that she also owns two vehicles and a motorcycle their value was not immediately disclosed.
