I am yet to move to the Dp’s official residence-Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has not yet moved into his official house in Karen amid taking oath of office on Tuesday, September 13.

Regarding the norms, President William Ruto moved to the Statehouse immediately after being sworn in as the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya.

However, it was contrary to his deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, who is still living at his Karen home.

In an interview with KTN News on Sunday, September 18, deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stated that he needs time to process many of the things happening in his life before relocating in the deputy’s official residence.

He said that he is yet to accept the reality that he is the deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

“The things that are going on around me are very momentous. I’m yet to acclimatize, digest and accept the new situation and the status and all. It is very overwhelming. I will need to take some time but in due course I will move into the official residence,” he said.

Gachagua added that there is no rush in operation since there so many tasks to be attended to considering that the journey in the new administration has begun.

“I’m still here trying to figure out and in any case, there is no hurry, work is going on and in due course, I will move to the official residence, but I will need to digest all the changes, and all the things that are going around me.”

Gachagua further stated that due to the historical significance of his Karen house, it will continue to be a homestay for his family.

“I have such an emotional attachment to this home, my children grew up here, my parents lived with me here for many years,” Gachagua divulged.

“It is very nostalgic for me to walk away from a home where I have lived for 24 years,” he said.
