After being elected as a Member of Parliament, media personality turned politician Phelix Odiwour, also known as Jalang’o, plans to stop hosting club events.
After garnering 38,948 votes, he was declared the winner of the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat, defeating the incumbent MP Nixon Korir, who garnered 36,836 votes.
Jalang’o posted on his Instagram page that he has had to cancel some of his duties as an artist due to his new job.
The media personality announced that going forward, he will no longer host club activities due to a lack of time.
“My new job comes with a lot of responsibilities and times of clubs might not be there anymore,” Jalang’o wrote.
Jalang’o did not completely rule out the possibility of working in radio, pointing out that he could fulfill his legislative obligations if he had a morning show that ended at nine in the morning.
“For now Langata is my No. 1 priority! Delivery of our manifesto and the promises we made to the electorate
“Radio is my love and if I get a morning show that ends by 9 so that I can make it for bunge on time then why not? I know many MPs who still do their jobs and deliver for their constituency,” he added.
According to Jalang’o, he would continue to engage with the businesses that hire him to advertise things on behalf of his constituency.
He claimed that young guys selected from Lang’ata will be in charge of concept creation and filming, among other things.
The radio host also stated that organizations interested in working with him must agree to fund a neighborhood project in his area.
“We will actually be now working with the young people of Langata in concept development and filming! I want to train as many young people as possible in our resource centers
“For me to be a brand ambassador of your product you must commit to take up and support a community project in Langata,” Jalang’o said.
