Nyandarua, Kenya -Beth Wahito, a seasoned Member of the County Assembly in Nyandarua, lost her life in a tragic road accident on the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway late on Saturday. She was returning from a budget committee meeting in Naivasha when disaster struck at around 11 p.m. .

Wahito, a nominee MCA with over three decades in public service, had stopped at an intersection near the Naivasha-Kinangop junction when her private car was struck by a passing Guardian Angel bus. She died instantly at the scene .The wreckage was later taken to Naivasha Police Station, where police continue their investigations .

Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Stephen Wachira Waiganjo described the loss as profound. “She led with courage, strength and determination. She was not afraid to speak up for what she believed was right,” he said. “She worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of the underserved in her community.”

Wahito’s career spanned three decades and several parties. Early on, she was involved with the Democratic Party, later becoming chair of NARC‑Kenya in Nyandarua. She most lately served as Kinangop coordinator for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)

Her fourth nomination as an MCA reflected the deep respect she inspired across party lines. She earned praise for championing women’s empowerment and community development — champions of her cause mourn their loss.

Naivasha Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer Isaac Kiama confirmed that other passengers from the bus suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from Naivasha Sub‑County Hospital.

Fellow MCAs paid tribute. Majority Leader Mwangi Nyaga called Wahito “a fierce and hardworking legislator”. He added, “As a county, we have lost one of the most dedicated MCAs” . MCA Thuo Gachino described the crash as one of the darkest moments in regional politics.

The family, alongside county leaders, is coordinating funeral arrangements. Her body remains at Naivasha Sub‑County Hospital mortuary ahead of its eventual transfer to Umash Funeral Home in Nakuru .
