A highly anticipated fashion-meets-sportswear collaboration between Nike and Kim Kardashian has been put on hold, with no new launch date confirmed. The delay, according to people close to the matter, is due to production issues.
The collection, known as NikeSkims, was first unveiled earlier this year and promised to merge Kardashian’s signature shapewear flair with Nike’s sports innovation. It was set to hit shelves in the spring.
But the debut has now been pushed back indefinitely. A source familiar with the project told Bloomberg that while the brand still hopes to release the collection within the year, the timeline remains uncertain.
Kim Kardashian, who co-founded Skims in 2019 and serves as its chief creative officer, had teased the collaboration back in February. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), she called it “a new brand coming this spring for the body obsessed.”
Nike’s CEO, Elliott Hill, announced in March that the first full collection would be available before the end of the company’s fiscal quarter in May. That window has now passed with no release in sight.
The February press release from Nike painted the collaboration as a marriage of form and function: combining the sports giant’s performance-driven design with Skims’ emphasis on fit and inclusivity.
“The new brand merges Nike’s world-class innovation and athlete insights with Skims’ obsession for the female form,” the statement read. It added that the line would include apparel, footwear, and accessories tailored to women athletes.
While fans were looking forward to sculpting bodysuits, sleek leggings, and performance wear that bore both the swoosh and Kardashian’s signature style, none of the actual pieces have been revealed yet. Plans for a global rollout in 2026 also hang in the balance.
Kardashian expressed confidence in the collaboration earlier this year, saying, “This partnership is the culmination of a shared vision. Every single detail has been obsessed over and carefully considered.”
Still, the delay is likely to frustrate fans and industry watchers who saw NikeSkims as a fresh move into the increasingly competitive women’s activewear market.
Nike has not issued any new public comment since the postponement was reported.
For now, those hoping to wear the much-hyped collection will have to stay patient and keep their workout gear on standby.
