The good Lord gives and keeps on giving to Kenyan Vybz Kartel fans.
In a since-deleted post on X, the Jamaican dancehall legend revealed that Kenya will be among his stops in his African tour.
“Straight a Kenya soon #Africantour a di first tour.” The tweet read.
Kenya has one of Dancehall’s biggest fan bases in Africa. An entire generation of artists has their style of delivery inspired by dancehall. Particularly the Gengeton genre, whose style and lyrics have a strong resemblance and echo the Caribbean outfit.
In certain Nairobi neighborhoods, the Kartel following is cult-like. Outfits have come out in Kayole worshiping the Jamaican star, with particular youths so entrenched in his style that reflects his bar for bar. Some fans have advised him to visit Kayole during his visit to Kenya
As a die-hard Kartel fan, the promised concert would be a dream if the first tune were the legendary song, ‘Gaza Commandments,’ an anthem of the legion. Then of course ‘Clarks’, for a dash of the unique dancehall fashion style, where footwear is the absolute affirmation of the culture.
Now, to get us dirty and sweaty, the World Boss has an array of weapons in his arsenal. ‘Romping Shop’, featuring Spice would be a welcome start. As the romp builds up, Come Ya Mi Gyal, Summertime, Conjugal visit, Pum Pum Paradise…. and the list goes and goes.
Well, for the conservative fan base, the Boss will do good to perform his legendary songs ‘Poor People Land’ and ‘I Can’ featuring Sikka Rymes, to name a few.
As the days creep by and the World Boss is out of the Can, it is only a matter of time before the concert dates are confirmed and the tickets sell out like hotcakes. We’re waiting, and very ready.
