A mild earthquake hit Nairobi on Tuesday, 16 July, at 17:31 GMT (20:31 EAT), with residents reporting tremors across various parts of the city.
Quake Alerts reports the 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit 95 km southwest of Nairobi in the evening.
“The event, 12 km northwest of Nairobi, is unconfirmed as seismic activity. The exact details, including the magnitude and depth of the earthquake, are not yet available,” Quake Alerts stated.
The current information is based on preliminary findings from Volcano Discovery, a global organization that reports on earthquakes and volcanoes.
Concerned residents reported experiencing tremors with the ground shaking and the magnitude a little more intense than previous tremors experienced.
A mild tremor was previously reported in Nairobi on Wednesday, June 5, at 1:25 PM, with residents reporting tremors across various parts of the city.
