When the Netflix series on the American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer was released, the crippling fear of how such a person could exist and live among us got everyone thinking.
Well, Kenya has had its fair share of horrendous murders that have left our mouths wide open. These murders had us scared to go out and about with our business.
Here are four Kenyan serial killers who left our skin crawling;
Philip Onyancha
The infamous Philip Onyancha was only 32 years old when he was arrested for killing nineteen people a majority of them being women. He was arrested in June 2010. In his confessionals, Onyancha said he was directed by a teacher to kill a hundred people and drink their blood to be successful.
Onyancha was acquitted of only one murder out of the nineteen due to lack of evidence.
Geoffery Matheri
Geoffrey Matheri a self-proclaimed vampire was only 26 years old when he was arrested. Geoffrey claimed to have killed about 50 women and over 100 men. His case had a weird twist to it because he would chop his victim’s body parts and eat them while drinking their blood.
Geoffrey was stated to be part of a cult that was led by bishop Jeremiah Parangoyo who was the one to instruct him on the killings. Bishop Jeremiah had recruited six street children with Geoffrey being among them and had promised them better lives, but only recruited them to do his killings.
Billy Chemirmir
Billy Chemirmir was a 50-year-old Kenyan living in Dallas Texas in the United States. Billy was a killer whose main target was elderly women. He acted as a caregiver and got access to the homes of these women where he would rob them of their jewellery suffocate them and sell the jewellery online.
His killing spree started in 2016 and he was accused of killing twenty-two women but was only charged with two. He was arrested in March 2018 and was sentenced to life imprisonment. While serving his jail term Billy was killed by an inmate.
Masten Wanjala
Masten Wanjala was only 20 years old when he was termed a serial killer. Masten’s first killing was at the age of 16 with his victim aged at only 12 years. He drudged then killed ten boys and would later drink some of his victim’s blood.
Masten on October 15, 2021, escaped from Jogoo Road police station where he was awaiting trial. He returned home to Western, where his parents had already disowned him. In his try to lay low, he was recognized and was killed through mob justice.
Serial killers are not born but are created. With the untimely deaths that have happened in the country, need for you as an individual to be aware of your surroundings is needed
