Thee record’s official ratification will require some time, as specific procedures must be adhered to.
Keeping in mind that it took three months for Kipchoge’s record to be ratified.
First, Kiptum must undergo testing, with the condition that the results must be negative in order to proceed to the next phase.
Additionally, the Chicago course will need to undergo measurement to ensure its alignment with the requisite standards established by World Athletics for a certified marathon course.

World Athletics noted that: “All performances must be achieved on a course which holds a valid International Course Measurement Certificate established no more than five years before the date of the race.”
They also stated that performances accomplished on courses featuring an elevation drop exceeding 1 meter per kilometer from start to finish are considered valid for world rankings.
However, a correction is applied to the result score, deducting points depending on the drop.
Such courses are not considered valid for official top lists, entry standards, or world records.
