Red Bull: RB19 Could Probably be the Best Car in Formula One

Red Bull Racing’s 2023 competitor, the RB19, has shattered boundaries and redefined the meaning of dominance in this sport. The RB19, piloted by Max Verstappen, has become very much associated with victory.

These victories exemplify an ideal blend of exceptional power units and superior aerodynamics. The car’s performance isn’t just about vicious lap times and substantial winning margins. RB19 is about the exceptional predictability it offers during race weekends.

In the driver standings, Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Pérez hold the top spots. The team secured the Constructors’ Championship with six races to spare, clinching victory in 15 out of 16 races this season. Verstappen’s impressive record-breaking streak of 10 consecutive wins adds to the car’s legendary status. This draws comparisons to all-time greats like Ferrari’s F2002, Mercedes’ W11, and McLaren’s MP4/4.

This Red Bull dominance has triggered discussions within the F1 community. There are talks about regulating the timing of next season’s car development to ensure fairness and intense competition. However, Verstappen cited the cyclical nature of F1 and the need to plan for the future.

“We weren’t talking about that when [Hamilton] was winning his championships, right? So I don’t think we should now. That’s how Formula 1 works. When you have a competitive car, it’s great, but at one point, of course, you also have to look ahead to the next year.”

The success of Red Bull with the RB19 can be attributed to their quickness in adapting to the new 2022 regulations. Newey’s vision and design prowess have been instrumental in creating a car that maximizes downforce. RB19 optimizes the critical component of the regulations—the floor.

“The technical team is just a very special group of brains, and they just saw things that the other teams simply didn’t, and they were able to put together a package that makes the most of the key part of the regulations, which is the floor. They were able to create a floor that runs very, very low and flat up against the track, and that just means that they get a huge amount of downforce, considerably more than any of their rivals.”

Verstappen’s exceptional skill and confidence further amplify the RB19’s performance. Thus, this driver-car combination is a force to be reckoned with. The RB19 has truly set a new standard for single-season driver performances.

While all great eras eventually face their end, the RB19’s supremacy is bound to be a topic of discussion until new regulations are introduced in 2026. Until then, Red Bull remains the team to beat, and the question lingers: how much further can they push the limits of excellence?
