Faith Kipyegon’s world mile record she st st the Diamond meeting in Monaco has finally been ratified.
As reported by World Athletics, Kipyegon achieved an impressive feat on the track this year, breaking three world records.
Her first two records were set within a week of each other as she clocked 3:49.11 for 1500m in Florence, then 14:05.20 for 5000m in Paris.
A few weeks later, she aimed for another milestone at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco.
As the bell rang, she surged forward with determination, obliterating the world record with each powerful stride.

The pacing lights couldn’t keep up as she gracefully navigated the track, ultimately stopping the clock at 4:07.64, a remarkable four seconds faster than the previous record established by her longtime competitor, Sifan Hassan, on the very same track on July 12, 2019 (4:12.33).
“I really enjoyed the race. I came for that, I wanted to chase the world record,” Kipyegon said.
Meanwhile,Roshawn Clarke’s world U20 400m hurdles record has also been ratified.
Clarke enjoyed a phenomenal breakthrough season in 2023, culminating with a world U20 record and a fourth-place finish at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23.
At the beginning of the year, his personal best (PB) was at 49.35, a mark he had achieved while winning the bronze medal at the 2022 World U20 Championships.
However, he surpassed his PB in mid-May and continued to make remarkable progress at the senior Jamaican Championships in July.
During this event, he recorded an impressive 48.91 in the heats and an astounding 47.85 in the final on July 7th, which equaled the world U20 record set by the USA’s Sean Burrell on June 11, 2021.

Following a successful performance in the heats, he achieved a second-place finish in his semifinal, setting a new world U20 record with a time of 47.34.
This outstanding time would have secured a gold medal in numerous previous editions of the championships.
In the final one day later, Clarke finished fourth in 48.07 and beat some of the best 400m hurdlers in the world
