Hollywood stars show up to Messi's game

Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami versus LAFC game yesterday drew Hollywood A-Listers to the football pitch. Celebrities turned out to watch Messi’s team beat MLS Cup Holders LAFC 3-1 on Sunday evening.

If Lionel Messi Mania needed any more proof, this past weekend provided it: not even the biggest Hollywood stars can take away from his brilliance. Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi shone the brightest of all the stars at BMO Stadium on Sunday night. Inter Miami upset the reigning champions thanks to two assists from Messi, ensuring that their playoff hopes are still very much alive. 14 minutes into the game, Facundo Faras scored the first goal. In the second half, Messi provided assists to Jordi Alba and Leo Campana.

Since Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami has gone 11 games without a loss, during which time the Argentinean has scored an amazing 11 goals and provided eight assists.

The game against LAFC saw a turnout from celebrities in Hollywood from actor Leonardo DiCaprio to singer Selena Gomez. The ‘notable attendees’ list comprised; Will Ferrell, Tom Holland, Toby Maguire, Owen Wilson, Gerard Butler,  Liam Gallagher, Selena Gomez, Tyga, BReal, and Nas.

The VIP section of BMO Stadium also saw British royalty Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turn up to watch Messi’s game in Los Angeles. Among other stars in attendance were LeBron James of the Lakers, Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw, and “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis.

Aside from drawing Hollywood’s A-list celebrities, One of the most viewed games since Messi’s signing was Miami’s matchup with the reigning MLS Cup champions. Messi attracted a record-breaking crowd of about 23,000 spectators to LAFC’s BMO Stadium.
