According to a report done by Five Star Alliance, Five star hotels offer their guests the highest levels of luxury through personalized services, a vast range of amenities, and sophisticated accommodations.

The amenities offered by a 5-star hotel can vary greatly, with some featuring world-class spas, state-of-the-art fitness centers, and multiple on-site dining options. In addition, other hotels offer breathtaking views of the city skyline or the ocean.

In Kenya, there are several five star hotels that are known to be iconic. However, few of them were built in the 90s.

One of the luxurious hotel is Sarova Stanley. This hotel was established in 1902 by Mayence Bent as the original founder in Nairobi.

In the early days the veranda on the second floor offered a spectacular view, where on a clear day, guests could see the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. The hotel thrived and garnered a widespread reputation till date.

The second luxurious hotel is Sarova Panafric. Inaugurated 37 years ago by one of the movement’s founding fathers and Kenya’s first President H.E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

The hotel which was built in 1963 has become a home to themed cultural nights in a post-independence era that celebrated culture, food, music and ideals.

Lastly, is Nairobi Serena Hotel. Established in 1975, the Nairobi Serena Hotel stands on the land that carried the current National Museum of Kenya in 1922.

The hotel is a living embodiment of its locale and has played a role in a number of historic moments in Kenya’s history over the years.
