KUCCPS told Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), students of 2022 that they can switch to an alternate course if they are not happy with their placement.

They opened the transfer portal and will be closed on August 15th, 2023. The reason for the extension is to allow students to make the best decision for their futures.

Process of changing courses

The application process is strictly limited to the online space and no physical forms from the preferred universities are required. First and foremost, one needs to log into the portal through the link www.students.kuccps.net

After logging in, the student navigates to the tab that reads, transfers. While at that tab, the student selects the program they want to transfer to. The portal will then show an inter-institution field, requiring the student to input the program code for the preferred course.

Furthermore, after the code input, KUCCPS will analyse whether the cut-off has been met by the student before proceeding to the next step. In addition to meeting the cut-off points, the student will need to provide a detailed explanation for initiating the transfer.

The final step of the application process is the payment of a non-refundable Ksh 1,000 via mobile transfer. The portal will require the student to key in the Mpesa confirmation code on the site for verification of the transaction and application.

After the verification has been done, the application is complete and the chosen institution will receive the application and consider the course as well as the slots available.

Once the institution approves the application, they will forward the transfer to the initial school selected, and then send it to KUCCPS for final approval.

Reason for Transfer Portal Opening

The transfer portal has been opened to allow students to pursue courses they are passionate about and interested in. Furthermore, there are instances where students are limited financially or medically and cannot pursue the course they were called for. KUCCPS offers them an opportunity to select an alternative.

If one does not meet the cut-off points for the selected transfer course, KUCCPS will automatically reject the application being filed.
