Zayn Malik Reveals The Real Reason He Left One Direction

The pillowtalk singer Zayn Malik is sharing all the details on why he left the boy band, One Direction eight years later. In the recent episode of Call her daddy podcast, he gets up and candid on the real reason he left the boy band and why he had to leave first before the others in the band; Harry Styles, Nial Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.

Zayn Malik explained that there was a lot going on within the group and the overall friendship within the boys and he took it as a sign to jump ship.

There was a lot of-look I don’t want to go into too much detail, but there was a lot of politics going on. Certain people were doing certain things, certain people did not want to sign contracts, so I knew something was happening, so I just got ahead of the curve. I was like, ‘I’m just going to get out of here.’

He then goes ahead to explained that when it comes to his music he is very hands on and competitive unlike what most people think.

I completely selfishly wanted to be the first person to go and make mu own record, if I’m being completely honest with you. I’m serious about it and I’m competitive, so I wanted to be the first to go and do my own thing. That was the reason- and then there was the obviously underlying issues, like within our friendship too.

In 2021, Zayn Malik and ex Gigi Hadid broke up amid reports that he had gotten into an argument with her mom, Yolanda Hadid. The two share a two year old daughter, Khai. He has a 50% custody and told Alex Cooper that if he could get 60% he’d take it claiming his very hands on with his daughter.

Yolanda pressed charges against Zayn after the reported argument that they had at his Pennsylvania home. He was accused of acting with ‘intent to harass, annoy or alarm’ Gigi and Yolanda while allegedly communicating obscene and threatening words. Zayn pledged not guilty and nearly two years later still stands by his words.
