Tanzania Thrives as Investors Flee From Burning Neighboring Country

Tanzania records an influx of investors

President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania has once again attracted attention with her recent remarks regarding the country’s economic strength during a speech at a women’s conference in Zanzibar.

She said this while criticizing the economy of a country that she did not mention which according to her is losing investors to Tanzania due to its instability.

President Suluhu confidently described Tanzania as a magnet for investors, seeing a record number of businesses that promised to change the country’s economy, in a now-viral video that has elicited mixed reactions from neighboring countries.

She emphasized her belief that peace and stability play a vital role for a country that wishes to attract investors who seek a secure business environment. The President was quoted saying ‘’the country is burning and investors are fleeing to Tanzania.’’

The focus of her speech was on calling for harmony and a constructive resolution of differences. She emphasized that instability and clashes between leaders can discourage prospective investors from choosing the affected nation, choosing instead Tanzania’s friendly investment environment.

President Suluhu’s remarks reaffirmed her previous claims earlier in the year, in which she claimed Tanzania’s economic superiority within the East African Community (EAC).

She compared Tanzania’s position favorably to that of other nations facing economic difficulties, confidently highlighting her country’s strong foreign exchange reserves.
