If he joins Steven Gerrard’s side, he will become one of the highest paid English players in history with wages summing upto  £700,000 per week. This is a big increase on his current salary of £200,000 per week.

Henderson, 33, has a deal on Merseyside which keeps him at the club until 2025. Liverpool chiefs are now set to hold talks with their midfield general, who’s been at Anfield for 12 seasons and succeeded Gerrard as captain in 2015.

He is expected to make a final decision on Thursday or Friday with Al-Ettifaq ready to make a formal approach to Liverpool before the weekend.
