Diamond and Burna Boy, currently among the top leading musician in Africa have been found controversial by their rivals and supporters over their recent jams.
Music sampling is the reuse of a portion of an existing sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, sound effects, or longer portions of music, and may be layered, equalized, sped up or slowed down, repitched, looped, or otherwise manipulated. The story of sampling and copying has gained a lot of controversy especially with Diamond toping the YouTube trend in Nigeria.
The Bongo star Diamond Platinum has been trending over cases of copy-paste over the years. His new song ‘Enjoy’ has received several claims that it was inspired by Nigerian artists, as many compared it to ‘Who is your guy’ by Spyro featuring Tiwa Savage.
Diamond’s song ‘Jeje’ has also been compared to ‘Joro’ by Wizkid. Some of the songs include: ‘Baba Lao’, and ‘Gidi Gidi’.
Burna on the other hand has been critiqued by fans for sampling with many of his songs being compared to the original version.
Some of the songs include ‘Sorrow Tear’ by Fela Kuti which has been compared to ‘Ye’, and Angelique’s song which has been compared to ‘Anybody’. Some of the other songs include ‘Last Last’ and ‘Top of the World’ by Brandy produced in 1998.

Wizkid’s songs that have also been sampled from Ghana have also been featured in the controversy, with songs such as ‘Manya’ and Fefe ne fe’ coming to the limelight.
