Chef Konde Katana Kaingu is popularly known for his delicious Swahili dishes. He has a passion for cooking and 25 years of experience in cooking.
The chef is ranked for his skills and his mastery. He cooks for high-profiled people an example being Rebecca Garang and Nyashinki.

Konde came from a poor family background, and the suffering of eating cashew nuts for a meal with his family pushed him to earn from his cooking as a passion.
“We could sleep hungry; it would pain me to see my mother suffer for us. I kept asking myself what I could do to make things better. Watching other children eat while we scrambled for cashew nuts in school was humiliating and painful.” He painfully recalls his childhood in an interview with Ghetto Radio.

In his cooking journey, Chef Konde mentions Mark Lesly who was an executive Chef from South Africa and was once his boss.
Mark Lesly realised Konde’s blossoming talent and offered to train him at his place of work, Sarova White Sands Hotel in Mombasa.

Chef Konde has also worked at Heming Ways, Kenya Marine Land, Dam Busters, Falcon Heights, and Steadman Garden in Karen, and earned quite a reputation for his impressive culinary skills.
Konde now owns a food restaurant Chini ya Mnazi located at Adams Arcade business center off Ngong road.
Chef Konde says it’s a dream come true for him and hard work has been the catalyst to his success. He offers private cooking, outside catering, and office orders as well.
