The Era When TV Brought Families Together

There was a time when families would sit together at home watching TV shows, both local and international. The adverts then, were so catchy as well and would be part of small talk the next day amongst friends.

The days when it would be a soap opera at 6.00pm, a local show at 7.30pm and another soap opera at 8.00pm this if the singing competition; Tusker Project fame, was not airing but if it would, they would squeeze it in. Families would take part in voting for their favourite contestant from the show.

Nowadays, we have Netflix and Showmax and other diverse and numerous channels to choose from not to mention split TV where you can watch two shows at the same time. Also the accessibility of internet that makes social media access easier. Families have never been so distant as they are now even though they all live under the same roof. The closest a family is, is when they have a WhatsApp group.

TV shows nowadays no longer promote content that build the family unit holistically, whereby all members of the family regardless of age would enjoy and find entertaining.
