Manchester City will release Benjamin Mendy days after his retrial is set to begin.
The 28 year old will leave the treble winners when his contract expires at the end of this month.
Mendy who became City’s most expensive player after a move from Monaco worth £52m in 2017, has not played for the club in almost two years.

His first arrest was in November 2020 and was later suspended by the club in August 2021.
Mendy was accused of seven counts of rape against four women. Another count of rape against a sixth woman and further charges of sexual assault.
During a five – month trial, he told the court that all the women consented and it was not rape.
The former France international was unanimously cleared of the charges against him in February this year.
Mendy will face a second trial set to begin on June 26.This is after the court failed to reach a verdict in a case of attempted rape.
