This tension reminds both fans of the 2012 showdown where Ko’ galo was heartbroken as Tusker FC lifted the trophy despite Gor leading the better part of the season.

To end the curse after 17 years wait for the title in 2012, the players had a huge role to play and be competitive since winning the KPL title in 1995.
Gor Mahia and Tusker FC down the history
In 2012 Gor led the league with 58 points while Tusker where one point behind.
However, Gor wept uncontrollably after they lost the league title by a point to Tusker, having drawn 1-1 with Thika United while the brewers(Tusker FC) beat Simba wa Nairobi(Nairobi City Stars) 3-0 to lift the title.
The biggest question is whether will history repeat itself again as Gor lead the table and chases a record-extending 20th league title but this round Tusker has led the better part of the season.

Gor beat Ulinzi Stars 2-0 to move top with 67 points while Tusker comes second with 65 points and third-placed Nzoia Sugar with 63 points.
Interestingly, if one club slips up will hand the other advantage in the title race.
Gor, Tusker and Nzoia Sugar remaining fixtures to end the 2022/23 season
Ironically, Gor face Nairobi City Stars who handed Tusker the title in their last game in 2012 on June 24. Before Nairobi City Stars Gor will face Kakamega Homeboyz on June 17 with both fixture schedules to go down at MISC Kasarani.
Tusker battles it out with Posta Ranger on June 17 before finishing the season against the already relegated Vihiga Bullets on June 24.
Nzoia Sugar on the other hand have a date with KCB and Sofapaka in their last match of the season.

I stand to be corrected, but Tusker’s last two matches seem to be a walk in the park Gor has had an uphill task to beat Kakamega Homeboyz to grab maximum points.
Let’s not forget Homeboyz knocked out Gor in round 16 of the Mozzart Bet Cup in March to qualify to play Tusker in the final of the domestic cup on July 1.

Astonishingly, the Golden Boot race sees Gor striker Benson Omala lead with 25 goals one more than Kenya Police forward Elvis Rupia. However, Omala has not scored in the last six matches thus making Rupia reduce the goal difference.
