Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan is set to join Barcelona on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month.
The 32 year old was offered an extension contract by City but it seems the Spanish club had a more lucrative deal. Pep Guardiola has been vocal on how he intends to keep Gundogan who was integral in the club’s treble win this season.
In a goal event on Monday, Pep told reporters, ”We are interested in renewing his contract and Barcelona are also interested. I hope he stays with us. We are still fighting for him to stay with us. He is a player we want to stay and we will do all we can but we know Barcelona want him.”
