Ruto nominates Mary, wife to the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), as the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) chairperson. Prior to this, Mary Chebukati was shortlisted for the position of principal secretary but was unsuccessful. Currently, she was shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) alongside two others for the CRA position. The other two are, former Wudanyi MP Thomas Ludindi and Felicity Nkirote. Her nomination by Mr Ruto places her in a better place to be approved and named as the next chair of CRA.

Mary is currently serving as the Senior Deputy Accountant General and Head of Accounting Unit in the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Urban Development

Possibility of nomination as the new chair

If approved by the government, Ms Wanyonyi will lead seven other CRA members who were appointed in January 2023. Her experience as the Senior Deputy Accountant General places her at a vantage point to snatch the office.

Ms Wanyonyi is a certified accountant and mediator. The nominee has had a stellar career in accounting and spanning over the three decades

read the statement from State House.

Wanyonyi has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. According to the State House spokesperson, Hussein Mohammed, Wanyonyi would add a lot to the CRA if approved. Her Vast experiences place her at a better vantage to chair CRA.

Ruto has also appointed Dr Phyllis Wambui as a member of the Salaries Remuneration Commission to replace the Public Service Commission. She is the wife of Dr Mbui, a former senior economic advisor in the executive office of the president.

This, however, rubs wrongly on the citizens. Claiming that Ruto is just awarding his loyalists, Chebukati being one of them and Ms Wanyonyi by extension.
