Last weekend Shujaa finished in last place at the Hong Kong Sevens and is now in 13th position in the World Series standings with 30 points. Shujaa is 10 points shy of the 11th-place safety zone, currently occupied by Spain.

Kenya’s performance has been less than stellar, losing to Hong Kong in the semifinals for 13th place after losing 26-12 to Samoa in the quarterfinals for ninth place.

After the Singapore Sevens, the only remaining tournaments left on the season’s calender will be Toulouse and London next month. Kenya are pooled with France, USA, and Uruguay in Pool C.

Shujaa Captain Nelson Oyoo has urged his team on a break or make mission,

“It’s a tricky pool any team can beat each other but we want to go all out and ensure we are in the quarterfinals of the Main Cup,

“This week we have looked at our kickoff reception, decision making and defence and we must make adjustments in our play in order for us to have a chance”

Meanwhile, Brunson Madigu has been added to the lineup for the Singapore Sevens in place of the injured Tony Omondi by Shujaa head coach Damian McGrath.

Each pool’s top two teams advance to the Cup quarterfinals, while the third and fourth-place teams play in the classification games on April 9.
