Kakamega MCA stabbed to death in a confrontation

MCA for Kisa East, Stephen Maloba died after being stabbed during a confrontation that ensued between his supporters and those of Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka.

The late MCA was reported to have been stabbed in his left armpit and was taken to Mbale hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body has been reserved at the Hospital’s mortuary.

Several leaders in the western region have come out to condemn the killing of the MCA. Senator for Kakamega County, Hon Bonny Khalwale mourned the MCA, saying that he was killed due to political differences.

“I am in a bad mood because this MCA was at my home a few days ago and we had discussed a lot of issues. His death has ruined my mood,” Senator Khalwale said.

Kakamega governor, Fernandes Barasa and his deputy Ayub Savula also spoke against the vices that led to the untimely demise of the MCA.

“I condemn acts of violence and particularly the killing of our MCA Stephen Maloba,” Governor Barasa said.

“An MCA has just passed away in Khwisero Constituency. He has been stabbed to death by goons in a political meeting. It is really shocking,” Deputy governor Savula said.

The governor also asked for tolerance and calm among the western region leaders.

Stephen Maloba vied to be the Kisa East MCA during the August 9 2022 general elections on an independent ticket.

His death came barely days after the Member of Parliament for Banisa constituency, Mandera County was laid to rest after losing his life in a hit-and-run accident involving a bodaboda rider.
