Andrew Amonde and Eden Agero are back in rugby action, albeit from the bench as Shujaa set sight on avoiding relegation from the World Sevens Series
Only two tournaments remain in the World Sevens Series and 13th-placed Shujaa will be looking to finish strong in Toulouse and London. Head Coach Damian McGrath has called up former Shujaa Captain Andrew Amonde and playmaker Eden Agero to the Kenya Sevens technical bench noting how vital their input and experience will be over the next two tournaments,
“Our setpiece, scrum, lineout, and kickoff reception have been below par. We need to work on it and ensure we have parity and are able to put pressure on them to have turnovers so that we win matches,
“Eden will help us with our general kicking. We have not been able to nail some of the simplest conversions when we score and I hope in the final two tournaments, we will be able to do better.”

Shujaa has been pooled in Group A in the 10th round of the 2022/23 World Rugby Sevens Series. They face New Zealand, Canada, and Uruguay. Uruguay is ranked 11th on the log with 49 points with Spain at 47 in 12th. Shujaa is 13th with 37 points, Canada 14th with 24, and Japan 15th with 16 points.
The tenth leg in Toulouse, France begins on 12 and ends on 14 May. The top 11 teams after Toulouse Sevens will stay for the new season while the 15th-ranked core team will be relegated.
The teams ranked 12th, 13th, and 14th at the end of Toulouse will enter a four-team relegation play-off alongside the Challenger Series 2023 winners at the 11th and final leg of the Series in London on May 20-21.
