Gibson, who stood at 5ft 5in before the surgery, opted for the procedure after struggling with insecurities about his height.

After exhausting all other options, Moses resorted to a painful surgical procedure involving the breaking of multiple bones in his body.

In 2016, he successfully added three inches to his height through the surgery, but now, seven years later, he has opted for a second round and is currently using a height-lengthening device to achieve his desired height.

Having spent a combined total of approximately £133,000 on two surgeries (the first costing $75,000 and the second $98,000), Moses has set a goal to reach a height of 5ft 10in by June, hoping to finally feel “free”.

He had experienced difficulties in his dating life due to what he described as “heightism” and constant ridicule about his height, but since undergoing the surgeries, he has gained newfound confidence and has even found a girlfriend.

Moses shared his struggles with height and felt like he was on the shorter side of men. He expressed feeling unhappy with his height as early as high school, around the age of 15, as he noticed that most of his peers were taller than him.

He added that over time, his height began to affect his self-esteem and he found himself unhappy most of the time. He even lost interest in clothes and shoes that he used to enjoy, as he felt they didn’t look good on him and wanted to improve his appearance.

“It was my self-confidence in general, and with the ladies. It affected my dating life. I used to put things in my shoes to gain a little bit of height, but it wasn’t very much. People made comments. Sometimes it wasn’t in a mean way or intending to hurt, but they’d say ‘sh*t dude, you’re short man’ or make a joke of it,’’ he said.

“I’m a strong, tough guy, so I was never depressed about it but I went searching to see what I could do about it. I bought medication online that promised to make you the height you’re looking for. I took it for a while before realizing it was nonsense and stopped it,” he added.

The National Health Service (NHS) website provides information about a leg-lengthening procedure called “distraction” that may be suitable for individuals with notably short legs. The process involves surgically breaking the leg bone and attaching it to a unique frame to stretch it out.

This enables new bone growth to occur between the two broken ends of the bone, gradually strengthening over time until it can bear the individual’s weight.

While some may view this as a drastic solution to a personal issue, it is a reminder that individuals have the right to make choices about their own bodies. However, it is important to consider the risks involved and prioritize one’s health and well-being above external appearances.
