The Multi-Agency Security team conducted ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu’ in North Rift Baringo county on Friday, March 17 recovering over 87 Cows and 26 Goats.
According to the mission, the animals were stolen from Chemoe and Kagir Villages in Baringo North. The situation comes a day after troops in parts of North Rift bombed a bandit’s hideout in Tandare valley.
Security forces are set to introduce a joint land and air operation to comb caves, gorges, and ravines in insecurity-prone areas in Kenya’s North Rift region, following the deadline notice of a 24-hour vacate order issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Sunday last week.

The forces in the battleground who will handle the bandits include the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), National Police Reservists (NPR), Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU), ASTU, and the General Service Unit (GSU) respectively.
The government has deployed a nearly complete arsenal ranging from armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and guns, comprising of the automated AK-47, G3 rifles, and general-purpose machine guns.

Dozens of people who agreed with the government’s terms and conditions in the targeted areas are now camping at the outlined places in need of food and shelter inclusively.
Further, the government has announced the counties including Laikipia, West Pokot, Samburu, Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Baringo as disturbed and dangerous owing to numerous and persistent incidents of violent bandit attacks.
