Chinese smartphone brands are on the rise in Indonesia taking the largest market share in the country due to their accessibility and durability.
A recent study by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that Chinese brands continuously make the top Five smartphone sales in the country.
“Chinese smartphones have certainly evolved over the years with the vendors. Leading brands have since invested a lot of money in developing their distribution channels, their marketing, and their quality after service and other related aspects in line with the development, consumer trust in these brands, grew consistently, and with that, it reflected in the market share of these Chinese brands”, said an official from Oppo company.
According to IDC’S Research, the combined market shares of Chinese brands reached nearly 70 percent. Brands including Oppo are currently dominating the market. The company has been leading Indonesia’s Smartphone industry since 2019.
“Indonesia’s smartphone market is very unique, especially in terms of its users. OP first entered Indonesia 10 years ago, and we still have to keep studying our customers and the market throughout the years. When we first entered the market, we had to break certain stigmas of Chinese products”, clarifies another official from Oppo company.
Oppo successfully did that by gaining consumers’ trust through their premium affordable. Their main source of revenue comes from their offline stores.

Over the years, Oppo has opened at least 100 stores across Indonesia in big cities and smaller provinces.
Experts believe Indonesia is one of the fastest-growing smartphone markets, and Chinese players will continue to top the industry because of the quality and affordability of their products.
