The Jamaican also stated that the split was not amicable and that he is still looking for answers after his $12.7 million vanished.

“It’s tough, you know, but I think through the years I’ve competed, it has helped me to understand and focus on what matters,” Bolt told reporters at the Gibson McCook Relays launch in Kingston, where he was unveiled as the athletics meet’ ambassador for the 50th year.

“I will leave the matter in my lawyer’s hands and focus on my family, try not to think too much about it because it’s a stressful situation,” the 11-time world champion added.

He also denied that he is currently bankrupt as a result of the massive loss.

“I’m not broke, but it’s definitely put a damper on me,” Bolt said. He went on to say that the money was not only for himself but also for his children’s future.

“It was for my future. Everybody knows I have three kids. I’m still looking out for my parents, and I still want to live very well.” Bolt added.

It was revealed 11 days ago that the former Olympic sprinter had been duped out of his life savings.

According to Bolt’s lawyer, the celebrated athlete discovered that his savings of approximately 12.7 million dollars (approximately 1.6 billion shillings) were missing from an account he had been saving with, Kingston-based investment firm Stocks and Securities Ltd. (SSL)

Following the discovery, the sprinter was informed that there was only about $12,000 left in the account. Bolt’s retirement and life savings were included in the account.

His lawyer had threatened legal action if the money was not returned by last Friday. It is unclear whether any legal action has been taken because Bolt still does not have his money.
