Sossion: Financial Crisis in Universities is Caused by Unplanned Reforms

Former KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion has said the financial crisis in Public Universities was caused by unstructured reforms.

Speaking with Citizen Television during an interview on Wednesday, Sossion said as a proud alumnus of Egerton University, he is saddened by what is going on.

He stated that the end of the self-sponsored students is what caused the financial crisis in public universities. 

“The crisis in the universities was caused by reforms that were unstructured. The end of the self-sponsored students is what has caused the financial crisis in universities,” said Sossion.

While at Citizen TV in Nairobi Sossion said that the transition to universities now stands at 10%.

Additionally, the government projection we were supposed to be by now talking of over 20% with quite a number of students on self-payments,” former KNUT secretary added.
