The ministry of health has appointed Jacky Vike, popularly known as Awinja, as ambassador for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
She announced her new appointment on Monday, the day the world commemorates neglected tropical diseases, via her Instagram page.

“Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the new Brand Ambassador for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) It was such an honour to get this role the same day we are Celebrating world day for NTDs. Thank you @moh_kenya for the opportunity to serve the community,” Awinja said.
Awinja promised to use her talent to advance the agenda with which she has been charged.
“We all know that comedy and art bring people together and that is what I will be basically doing, I will be pushing the agenda through my craft,” she said.

Buruli Ulcer, Chagas Disease, Cysticercosis, Dengue Fever, and Dracunculiasis are examples of NTDs (Guinea Worm Disease).
Awinja rose to prominence in the Papa Shirandula Show, a popular local production of Royal Media Services’ Citizen TV.
She was cast as Awinja, the housekeeper of the late Charles Bukeko.

Vike went into content creation after leaving the show and was appointed an ambassador for several leading brands in the country.
